As I write this, I am battling allergies and a sore throat that's messing with my sleep and my motivation to train! I've been avoiding CrossFit, but I'm still working out how I can. Last weekend my fiancé and I hit the Howe Street Stairs for some Big Climb pre-funk, and last Thursday my girls Aileen, Lindsey and I spontaneously decided to attend Seahawks' strong safety Kam Chancellor's Form x Force Boot Camp Tour workout that night in Kirkland!
Kam has enlisted some of his best friends - including his trainer, Coach Kev, athlete and motivator Giavanni Ruffin and local fitness instructors Lainee, Alisa, Jarell and Candy - to bring Seattle-area women and youth a jam-packed hour and a half of a workout. Kam and his crew have been hosting these women's and youth boot camps in Kirkland for a few months now and are currently taking it on a statewide tour (they're in Tacoma this week.) I had such a great time and got my butt kicked! We started with a warmup of yoga stretches and a couple of eight counts in a simple dance routine, then got into the boot camp circuit drills (squats, lunges, planks, ropes, stairs, oh my!) before some abs and suicide runs. I know it sounds intimidating, but if you're interested in attending a boot camp there's no need to worry at all. The workouts are geared to challenge all levels, and the trainers are awesome about helping you with form and encouraging you to do your best. Show up, put in work and I guarantee you will get a good sweat session in. Well worth the $50 to train with six amazing athletes (you can pay extra if you want a pic with Kam, too!) Check out Form x Force and the Boot Camp Tour here.
Fitbit Local is launching in Seattle on Saturday, March 26th and you're invited! They're hosting a free monthly workout series featuring Fitbit Local Seattle ambassadors KaisaFit's HIIT bodyweight workouts and yoga flow from Kevin Ng. This first one's at the Seattle Center Armory, and you can register here for the free workout. There are goodies and yoga mats for the first 150. See you there!
Finally, I'm doing the Big Climb again this year and I'm WAY behind on my fundraising! I might wear my Kam Chancellor tank again for good luck. Care to help your girl with a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Greater Seattle? I would be so grateful if you did! Donate right this way.
