Eating clean has been a huge shift in my life over the past few years, and superfoods have been a big part of that. What are superfoods, you ask?
Superfoods are described as "a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being." Though not a scientific term or designation, you can bet that something that's commonly referred to as a superfood is packed with good things for your body.
Healthworks is a popular brand specializing in superfoods sourced from rural areas around the world. They kindly sent me a few of my favorite superfoods to incorporate into my daily routine.
The Healthworks team travels all over the world, from South America to Asia, to meet with small, local farmers and hand-select the best quality superfoods for their customers. They partner with farmers that use sustainable agriculture farming techniques that protect the environment and use less energy when growing and processing superfoods by the use of lower atmospheric pressure and dryer climates. I also love that Healthworks is conscious of reducing logistical costs and using less waste.
I try to have at least one of these Healthworks superfoods in each meal, whether that's a quinoa and kale salad; a smoothie bowl with cacao nibs and goji berries; acai powder in my breakfast smoothies; or a matcha latte for my late morning pick-me-up. The great thing about superfoods is how versatile they are. There's so many things you can do with matcha, acai, quinoa, cacao and goji! After a sugar-filled Halloween, these superfoods have been my salvation. Thanks Healthworks!
