Alderbrook: A Food Lover’s Paradise

A fern picked right outside the resort!

I thought we were spoiled by all the amazing food to eat here in Seattle, but the "Shore to Table" cuisine at Alderbrook Resort is truly something to behold. Many of the ingredients in the food at Alderbrook is harvested, foraged or sourced very close to the resort. Fresh oysters and clams are harvested right on Alderbrook's shores, and salmon can often be seen coming up and down the little creek alongside the resort cottages.

In the warmer months, you can experience barbecues on the lawn and dine al fresco on the patio, enjoying live music by local artists. The daily menu is seasonally-driven, and each dish pairs artfully with Alderbrook's robust selection of beer, wine, spirits and hard cider from around the region.

During our stay, we caught a clam and white wine happy hour on the patio to kick off our time together. Later that night, we were treated to a dinner cruise aboard the Lady Alderbrook with the executive team. Chef truly outdid himself with tomatoes done 12(!) ways, salmon with apples and edible flowers and the most scrumptious dessert.

The next day, we had a fresh breakfast buffet out by the water, followed by chicken salad and an amazing pesto mix for the bread. Dinner in the Wine Room at The Restaurant hit so many high notes, with a creamy sweet potato souffle, homemade pesto pasta with prawns and vanilla bean creme brulee for dessert.

I need to shout out the cocktail of house-made huckleberry syrup and ginger beer. I didn't even need the vodka to enjoy several of them during our stay!

Many compliments to Alderbrook's Executive Chef Josh Delgado, who is responsible for making the monumental shift to a shore to table menu upon arriving at Alderbrook last year. Chef Delgado is well-known in the region, serving as Former Executive Chef at Camano Island Inn and Chef de Cuisine at The Barking Frog Restaurant at Willows Lodge before heading up the culinary team at Alderbrook. Chef Delgado is as humble as he is impressive; in fact, on our second night at the resort, he was at DeLille Cellars for Battle of the Chefs by Luxe Magazine, where he won People's Choice and Best Cocktail!

Drool over all the shore to table cuisine over at AlderbrookResort.com.
