On Finding Focus & 'Electrolytenment' (Sponsored Post)

My mind is almost always functioning on a million miles a minute. Writing. Making sure I've got my calendar somewhat straight. Answering emails. Adding to my to-do list. Mind-mapping. Checking social media. Reading articles. Running errands. Going to events. Brainstorming. At any given moment there are so many various things vying for my attention. Life like this can quickly feel overwhelming, making it really difficult to really channel that fountain of creativity within you (and it is in you!) Many of my favorite meditation/wellness friends and reads will say that to tap into that creative side, we need to still the mind and bring some quiet into our chaotic lives. In this sponsored post, I've been tasked by resource® Natural Spring Water  to give you some insight into how I do just that - finding my personal " electrolytenment." Whenever I find myself in that "tactical paralysis" (getting caught up in my own to-do list, or "sweating the small stuff") finding stillness is hugely important to me in feeling for the anchor back to my big goals and dreams.

Fitness and health have been such a strong theme on Fresh Jess this year, and with good reason. Being active has done worlds for my ability to focus and find peace. While I am so easily distracted online, when I’m working out I have to focus on the activity at hand. From running a little faster to breathing a little deeper in that pigeon pose, I love challenging myself to do better with each rep. I’m away from the computer and in my own mind and body for somewhere around an hour, and it is always worth it. After each workout, I not only feel refreshed, but the energy I get keeps me motivated to blaze through the day.

One of my favorite places to go when I need to clear my head is Alki Beach. In the summer, it’s packed but when it’s cloudy and cold, the beach is deserted. No matter what the weather, Alki is absolutely beautiful and feels worlds away from the city even though it’s just a short drive into West Seattle. I take a journal and pen out by the water and just let words spill from my brain onto the paper. Sometimes I have a theme; sometimes it’s just a diary entry, and a lot of times it’s just free writing, with my pen desperately trying to catch up with the narrative going on in my mind. Something about writing in a serene setting like the beach leads the way to life-changing ideas, lofty goals and previously unimaginable dreams. Much of what you’ve seen on Fresh Jess has stemmed from a good writing session, probably out there on Alki!
