Alderbrook Resort & Spa: The Perfect Getaway

View from my marina side room!

It never gets old saying this: we are surrounded by so much beauty here in the Pacific Northwest. There are so many incredible getaways just a short drive from the city. My new favorite getaway is to Alderbrook Resort & Spa, situated on the Hood Canal just about two hours from Seattle and Portland (a great "meet me in the middle?" destination for friends in either city!)

The beautiful lobby

Don't forget to say hi to the lobby cats, Alder & Brook!

Alderbrook was established in 1913  in Union, WA as a getaway for artists. Its rich history is steeped in creativity and the arts (more on that later,) and continues today. Many families have made Alderbrook part of their own traditions, returning year after year to enjoy the 88 lush acres of the resort and all it has to offer.

There are 77 guest suites and 16 cottages - so there are perfect accommodations for a couple's getaway, a family reunion, a summer vacation for the whole fam (even the dog!), ladies' weekend or a corporate retreat.

Each room has a view of the Hood Canal (the pic above is the view from my private little deck); a custom Pendleton blanket; luxurious linens; big, comfy bathrobes and slippers; a huge bathtub with Molton Brown's fragrant bath amenities; and a Keurig with the best selections of coffee and tea. Add the perfect little window reading nook that ever was and let me tell you - it was hard to leave my room!

Luckily, every inch of Alderbrook has something special to offer. I couldn't wait to soak up every bit of it in our short, 3-day stay.

There's so much to see, eat and do on the property and surrounding grounds that I've split up the recap of my stay into several parts. Stay tuned this week for more on Alderbrook's world-class food, activity options and of course, The Spa!
