Getting Resolution Ready with SearsStyle #Shop #ThisIsStyle

Happy holidays! It’s been a whirlwind of family, friends, fun and feasting this season and now I’ve got New Year’s resolutions on the brain. I’ve partnered with Sears Style to bring you some tips on getting your resolutions off on the right foot – and how to get the fitness look for less. What better time than the new year to start fresh (or refresh) on healthy habits that’ll have you feeling and looking great?

Last year, I made it not just a resolution but a priority to eat and live better. It’s been a great year of conscious, healthy eating and working out, but I know I’ve got so much to learn and try in years to come. I’ve definitely done my fair share of indulging this holiday season and could use a good reset to start off the year, too.

If there’s one thing I have learned this year, it’s that if you fall off the health & fitness, you get back up and keep going. My 2014 health & fitness resolutions start with a good reset to keep me motivated for the rest of the year.

Day 1: Drink more water
I can always use a friendly reminder to drink more water. I do my best to tote my water bottle with me all day, and to keep it filled. I also like to put some extras into my water to make it that much better (and tastier) for me – lemon, lime, ginger and sea salt are some of my favorites.



Day 2: Set meal plans
If I don’t set a meal plan, there’s a high likelihood I won’t make the best (read: healthiest) choices for all of my meals. Try as I might, I will eat whatever is closest and sounds the yummiest when I’m at the point where I’m starving. Setting meal plans for the week always sets me on the right path, and also makes it easier to…



Day 3: Stock the fridge
…with healthy goodness! Lots of greens of all shades and types, as well as tons of veggies, almond and coconut milk, coconut water, kombucha and free-range organic eggs.


Day 4: Try a new trail
I love trying new sports and new things, but must admit I’m a creature of habit. When I want to run outside, it’s usually the same few trails in the city. Seattle is an awesome place with countless running trails in and just outside the city – with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

Day 5: Get some yoga in
Another thing I don’t do enough of is get some good breathing and stretching in, which is why I love getting in a good yoga session. Focusing on breathing right and letting yourself experience every pose is so soothing and restorative.


Day 6: Treat yo’self – to new workout clothes!
Say you haven’t worked out in awhile. There’s a point where most of the battle to workout is in your head. Just getting to the gym, or getting in the right mood can make or break your will to go break a sweat. After almost a week of building healthy habits back up, why not treat yourself to some new workout clothes?
