Independent designers give me life. They're always the most fun to watch because they take risks and create things that speak to their aesthetic; not just because it's what's trending or what the masses want. The L.A. Fashion Council hosted two days of shows at The Grove last week and set the stage for emerging designers to know in the city. I wished I could've been there for these shows - thanks to LAFC for sending these photos over! I adore the style of the City of Angels and wish our weather would cooperate more often for me to wear light layers and basics both reinvented and classic that are so prevalent there. I just gotta hide mine under some thick outerwear!
These are my favorite looks from the LAFC shows. Enjoy!

Now that I'm getting fit, I'm drawn to these cut-out styles.

Love a good jumpsuit, except when I have to go to the bathroom.

Day one's featured designer had me all up in my ethereal feelings. I couldn't choose one look so here's five.
Hand knit detail is exquisite!
90s grunge is back so hard. This is way out there but I'd give it a shot.

Probably my favorite silhouette right now: a good sheath top to accentuate the shoulders paired with a slinky midi skirt.
