Newtown, CT Love and Light

As we all struggle today to make sense of the Newtown, CT elementary school shooting yesterday, I just want to encourage you to let your loved ones know that you care about them. Never underestimate the power of letting someone know that you love them. You never know who could really use words of kindness, love, positivity and encouragement.

My heart is with everyone affected by yesterday's horrible turn of events. While I don't have a human child myself, my bulldogs are my babies and I know the depths of despair, emptiness and other emotions that come with losing a child suddenly. I can't begin to fathom what the Newtown parents are going through, but I try. My deepest condolences are with them in this difficult time.

One friendly suggestion before I end this post with President Obama's moving statement on yesterday's tragedy. Please think twice about waxing poetic about your political opinions related to gun control on Facebook at this time. If there's one thing social media teaches us, it's that EVERYONE has an opinion, and a lot of times, you won't like what others have to say. It's a sensitive, difficult time for everyone. I encourage you instead to sign a White House petition calling for further action on what moves you.

"These neighborhoods are our neighborhoods, and these children are our children."

Virtual hugs to all of you. Thank you once again for taking the time to read Fresh Jess.
