Peak Shoulders: Don't Stop Til You Get Enough!

this weekend we caught "This is It" - a peek into what was to be MJ's last hurrah. i highly recommend seeing it while it's out in theatres. you really get a sense of why Michael is such a one-of-a-kind. the magic he brings to the stage wasn't lost in the midst of all the scandal and craziness that haunted him for most of the past couple of decades!

one of my favorite parts of the movie was seeing MJ continue his streak of trend-setting jackets. throughout the whole movie, we see him donning peak-shouldered, fitted blazers - much like the ones favored by rihanna, karl lagerfeld, victoria beckham and perfected by designers like balmain & preen. one of my favorite girls, Jordana of Clutch 22, styled the puff shoulder in a recent post!

check the trailer - then view a few of my favorite variations. God bless you and your impeccable style, MJ!

Gorgeous jackets! A friend took her young daughter to see This is It, and afterwards she said such a poignant thing, that she was sad that she would never see MJ perform live. But in a way, it sounds like this documentary really was as powerful as any of his live performances, so in a way, he continues to live on stage, at his happiest, forever.

You're a PYT! Love love love peak shoulders, and that's a much better description than I've been using (petite shoulder pads or spikey shoulders...doesn't work) :) I've also noticed a lot of Michael Jackson inspired vests and jackets...sort of band geek with 80's edge? I got a vest like that from F21.

Andrea - thanks girl. PYT is my favorite MJ song :) I love the Balmain & Preen ones. I found a boys' tuxedo blazer at the Glitter Sale...if I put shoulder pads in I'm set with my peaked shoulders!

Jaunty - thanks for your comment! the movie gave me goosebumps. it's really no exaggeration when people say MJ has a presence, both onstage & off. you can tell in the dancers and musicians' faces.

Jordie - I love you :) I got some blazers at the Glitter Sale that totally channel MJ. Wearing one to the SPUN tweetup over a SPUN tank!
