wish list '08

my wish list this year is pretty simple and straightforward - gift cards galore please! i'm like rachel from friends; kinda picky, hard to shop for and notorious for getting rid of things unworthy of my closet or home. so to make things real easy for my friends & family, here are some of my favorite places to spend money, starting off with the places who need things way more than i do. i'll take care of bringing home the creature comforts i want and need with my own $$$...

favorite charities - would LOVE a donation in my name (or meatball's) to these wonderful places! and FYI the bill & melinda gates foundation is my favorite of all, but they don't accept individual donations.

thank you maya angelou

i just finished letter to my daughter by maya angelou. this is maya's collection of essays on lessons learned, challenges faced and blessings counted - and meant for the daughter maya sees in every woman. i am a big fan of short reads (my attention span is at an all-time low and i can't read too much on the bus before getting naseous.) because of this, the messages weren't lost on me. thank you maya, it's an honor to have received these letters.

i've always been hesitant to order shoes online, since sizes vary so much with each brand and frankly, each shoe. but after many unsuccessful shopping trips around the city, i decided to risk it and get both of those beautiful grey boots you see below online, at zappos.com and endless.com.

less than 24 hours after placing my order, both pairs were waiting for me in my lobby. tight! that's how i like it! thankfully both pairs fit perfectly - but i was most happy at how quickly both zappo's and endless filled my orders. take note!

VOTE! and get free coffee at starbucks

What if we all cared enough to vote?

Not just 54% of us, but 100% of us?

What if we cared as much on Nov. 5th as we care on Nov. 4th?

What if we cared all of the time the way we care some of the time?

What if we cared when it was inconvenient as much as we care when it’s convenient?

Would your community be a better place?

Would our country be a better place?

Would our world be a better place?

We think so, too.

If you care enough to vote, we care enough to give you a free cup of coffee.

Come into Starbucks on Nov. 4th, tell us you voted, and we'll proudly give you a tall cup of brewed coffee on us.

You and Starbucks. It's bigger than coffee.
